Our Vision
As a value-driven school, we strive to educate each learner holistically within a safe and stimulating environment with excellent academic teaching and extracurricular activities with excellent facilities.
In the heart of Durbanville stands Gene Louw Primary, a beacon of top-quality education and tradition. Gene Louw is a parallel medium school with a rich history dating back to 1984 with the enrolment of the first learner. The school was named after Mr. Gene Louw, Administrator of the Cape at the time.
Mr. Alex Volschenk served as the school’s first Principal from 1984 and in 1990, Mr. Koos Lochner took over the reins. From 1997, Mr. André van der Westhuizen was at the head of the school and in 2021 the current Principal, Mr. W.A.J. Gouws, joined Gene Louw Primary.
Our main focus is the holistic development of each learner as a unique individual. We endeavor to offer each learner the right support and opportunities to learn and grow to the best of their own specific abilities.
Gene Louw Primary is known for their school spirit and enthusiasm. Learners are divided into three houses, each with its own colour and crest – Sultana (white), Barlinka (blue) and Hermitage (maroon). Each year, these houses compete with loads of fun and good spirit during sports and cultural events to ultimately identify an all-round winner for the year.
When joining Gene Louw Primary, it is more than just the beginning of a school career. It is the day you join the Gene Louw Community; a family bound together by mutual pride and support.
